You don't tag references in Bloom, and you don't need to remember where you filed them. You describe what you're looking for, the way you'd describe it to a person.
Searching in natural language
Type a description and Bloom searches by what the reference actually is — not just its title or source. Combine whatever comes to mind:
- Subject — "portrait of an older man", "empty parking lot at night"
- Mood — "melancholy", "chaotic energy", "quiet and clinical"
- Color — "washed-out pastels", "deep red and black"
- Style — "35mm film look", "brutalist type", "hand-drawn animation"
The more specific the description, the sharper the results. "Moody green-tinted interior with hard shadows" beats "green room" every time. If a first pass misses, reword rather than shorten — swap in the terms you'd use pitching the image to a colleague.
How Creative Memory works
Search runs on Creative Memory, Bloom's AI index of your library. References are indexed automatically in the background as you save — no setup, nothing to maintain. Your home screen shows how many references are indexed, and a Sync action is there if you want to kick indexing off yourself.
Everything in your library gets indexed the same way, whether it arrived by upload, pasted link, or import.
Plan caps
Each plan indexes a set number of references: 500 on Basic, 2,500 on Starter, and unlimited on Pro and Team.
Hitting the cap never blocks saving — new references still land in your library as usual; they just aren't indexed for search. You'll see a prompt like "X/Y indexed — upgrade for more" when you're at the limit. See Plans & limits for the full comparison.
Good to know: Newly saved references are indexed in the background, so give a fresh save a moment before expecting it in search results.
